VSU Welcomes its First Ever Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Shaun Church to Trojan Nation

ETTRICK, VA - Virginia State University and the Department of Athletics named Shaun Church its Inaugural Head Coach of the VSU Men's Lacrosse team.

Church is well versed in the sport of lacrosse and is a proven Championship caliber coach as his resume speaks for itself. He comes to VSU after coaching in the youth lacrosse community as well as Community College ranks. Coach Church led Monroe Community College to top-ten NJCAA finishes every year (2018-2022) while also being the EDI Region 3 Ambassador. He also coached the Pittsford Youth Lacrosse team and Nationals Sweetlax Lacrosse Club. He also coached with the MuDD Academy and is a part of the NLA Pro. Coach Church also provided leadership to the Monster Elite Lacrosse team as the Head Coach from 2018-2022. He started coaching the Greece Storm Youth Lacrosse team from 2020-2021.

 
In 2017, Coach Church was the Head Coach during the Euro Box Championships. He was instrumental in the success of the Onondaga Community College lacrosse team as the Assistant Coach when they won the NJCAA National Championship in 2017.
 
Coach Church was the Head Coach at ASA Community College from 2015-2016 where he sent a student-athlete to play division one lacrosse (Kier Johnson - Hampton University) for the first time in program history. He was also Head Coach of the Brooklyn Crescents lacrosse team.
 
In 2014, he was the Offensive Coordinator of King College where he led the #2 ranked offense in the respective conference.
 
Shaun Church got his coaching career started at Eastern University as a Graduate Assistant in 2013 as he helped lead the team to a MACC Conference Championship.
 
Coach Church's playing career shows that he is both a leader and a winner. Church started his collegiate playing career at Onodaga Community College where he was the captain of the 2009 team that went on to win the NJCAA National Championship. He went on to Salisbury University where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. As a student-athlete, Church won back-to-back National Championships at Salisbury University.
 
Shaun Church was born in Southside Jamaica, Queens and attended Hicksville High school.
