PETERSBURG, Va. (April 19, 2026) — The Virginia State University men's lacrosse team dropped a 24-5 decision to Alabama Huntsville on Sunday afternoon.
The Chargers set the tone early, jumping out to a 5-1 lead in the opening quarter and never looking back. Alabama Huntsville added an explosive second period, outscoring the Trojans 11-1 to take a commanding 16-2 advantage into halftime.
Virginia State showed resilience in the third quarter, matching its highest scoring period of the game with three goals. Freshman Noah Byers led the effort with two goals and an assist, while Devray Kirkland II added a goal and two assists. Allan Starks and Andre Bigham also found the back of the net during the contest.
Despite the offensive push in the third, the Trojans were unable to slow the Chargers' attack, as Alabama Huntsville added eight more goals over the final two quarters to seal the victory.
Defensively, goalkeeper Jace Wiggins recorded an impressive 32 saves while facing a relentless Alabama Huntsville offense that fired 77 total shots.
Alabama Huntsville was led by Brock Deist's four-goal performance, while Chris Aiello orchestrated the offense with two goals and five assists.
Virginia State falls to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Trojans will look to regroup as they continue their season.
