Mount Olive Pulls Away from VSU Men’s Lacrosse, 19-6

PETERSBURG, Va. — Virginia State University men's lacrosse dropped a non-conference matchup to Mount Olive, 19-6, on Saturday afternoon.

Mount Olive set the tone early, scoring four unanswered goals in the opening quarter and carrying that momentum into a dominant second period. The Trojans (2-8) struggled to find offensive rhythm in the first half, trailing 11-1 at the break.

Virginia State showed resilience coming out of halftime, putting together its most productive stretch in the third quarter. The Trojans netted three goals in the period, highlighted by a pair from Andre Bigham and another from Jayden Quil, trimming the deficit to 14-4 heading into the final quarter.

Bigham led VSU offensively with a hat trick, while Miles Jackson added a goal and two assists. Kevon Powell also found the back of the net as the Trojans finished with six goals.

Despite the offensive effort in the second half, Mount Olive continued to control possession and capitalize on scoring opportunities, maintaining a comfortable lead throughout the final period.

Defensively, goalkeeper Jace Wiggins recorded 27 saves.
