Fayetteville, N.C. (Mar. 16, 2026)- The Virginia State University women's bowling team delivered a strong performance at CIAA Event 3, held March 13–15, 2026, in the Northeast region. The Trojans displayed depth and consistency across both traditional team games and Baker format competition.

Strong Showing in Team Games
Virginia State excelled in the five-person team game format, finishing 5–0 in the opening set of matches with team scores of 660, 762, 690, 706, and 832. The Trojans defeated opponents including Virginia Union, Bowie State, and Elizabeth City State during the run.
In a second block of team matches, Virginia State again went undefeated (4–0) with scores of 713, 855, 726, and 699, with the 855-pin performance marking the team's highest score of the event.

Player Averages and Key Performances
Several bowlers produced standout performances throughout the tournament.
Janaya Ward led the team with the highest average of the event, rolling multiple strong games including 214, 208, and 191. Ward finished with 1,525 total pins across 9 games for a 169.4 average.
