Richmond, Va. (Jan. 27, 2025)- The Virginia State Women's Bowling team competed in the second CIAA Event Friday through Sunday.
Janaya Ward competed well in her five matches on Friday knocking down a total of 898 pins which sets a new career high for her after having a season high of 778 pins in the Coppin State Lady Eagles Invitational in November. Mackenzie Miller also competed well on day 1 knocking down 676 total pins.
Both Ward and Miller continued their strong performances going into day 2 with only four games played, knocking down 612 and 518 pins respectfully. On the third day playing the Baker System, in which all five members compete as a team and total pinfall is the final score the Trojans narrowly lost to Elizabeth City State 688-645 in their last match of the tournament.
The team will regroup and prepare for the CIAA Round-up which will be hosted by Fayetteville State on Friday February 21 through Sunday the 23 at B&B Bowling Lanes in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
