Winston-Salem (Feb. 11, 2024)- The Trojan women came away with a first-place finish with a time of 13:13.23 in the Medley Relay to highlight the nine top-10 finishes for VSU.
Aanya Howard finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters for the only points the Trojans would get on the field events this day. On the track Emoni Coleman gathered another fourth-place finish as she crossed the finish line at 5:27.73 and in sixth place was Alandina Hyppolite with a time of 5:29.13.
In the 400-meter prelims Desairey Gray placed ninth with a time of 1:00.38. Jayla Greene finished in eighth place, in the 60-meter prelims crossing at 7.83 and made the finals tomorrow. Then in the 800-meter prelims Manuela Deigh and Coleman finished back-to-back in fourth and sixth place with time of 2:25.43 and 2:25.49 respectfully and made the finals tomorrow. Jaelynn Wynder-Hill had a NCAA Division 2 mark in the 60-meter prelims with a time of 8.95 and an eighth place finish with a spot in the finals secured tomorrow. The women's team sits in fourth place with 22.5 points and only 0.5 points behind third place Winston-Salem State. Fayetteville State currently holds first place with 36 points.
The team will try to continue to climb the ranks tomorrow in day 2 of the CIAA Indoor Championships.
