Women's Indoor Track

Women’s Indoor Track shine at HBCU Showcase

Washington Heights, N.Y.- The indoor women's track team performed well in the field events. The runners also had some performers such as Rose Wanjiru Muturi and Kenedy Shields lead the team.  

Muturi ran the 46th best 3000 meter run in all of Division 2 with a time of 10:13.03 and placed third in the 1 mile run as well. In the shot-put Janiya Harmon just missed out on the top 10 with a throw of 12.39 meters and Gabrielle Gunn placed 22nd with a mark of 10.12 meters. Shields after winning the high jump at the VCI Invitational placed fifth with a best of 1.60 meters and Omeika Hogg wasn't far behind with a jump of 1.50 meters which placed her in 12th place. Shields also placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.5 meters.  

The team will be back in action January 31 at Virginia Wesleyan University for the Marlin Invitational.
