Harrisonburg, Va. (Apr. 11, 2026)- The Virginia State women's track and field team traveled to the JMU Invitational on Saturday and performed well against division 1 competition.
On the track Markeria King picked up two top 10 finishes in both the 100-meter dash, ninth, and the 200-meter dash, seventh. Jaelynn Wynder-Hill also picked up a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a new season best time of 14.69 seconds.
In the field events King participated in the long jump and placed second with a best mark of 5.58 meters. Jaylin Roberts in the triple jump was third with a mark of 11.65 meters. Janiya Harmon competed in the shot put and javelin throw. In the shot put she placed third with a new season best mark of 13.29 meters and in the javelin, she hit 30.05 meters which is a new personal best.
