Richmond, Va. (Mar. 20, 2026)- The Virginia State women's track and field teams went to the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond on Friday.
Jaelynn Wynder-Hill just missed the podium in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.07 seconds which was good for fourth place. Mariah Perry and Jada Starks also placed in the top 10 in sixth and ninth place respectively. Starks also placed ninth in the 200 meter and Markeria King placed right behind her in 10th place with a time of 25.81. In the 400-meter hurdle Torie Satterwhite placed ninth with a final time of 1:19.34.
In the field events, the Trojans dominated gathering six top five finishers. Janiya Harmon threw 39.15 meters in the discus throw which gave her the silver medal and Destiny Burrell placed right behind her with a throw of 36.63 meters. Harmon also did well in the javelin throw placing fourth with a mark of 28.77 meters. VSU gathered second through fourth place in the high jump. Kenedy Shields, Samiya Dell and Ianna Frederick jumped 1.70 meters, 1.60 meters and 1.55 meters respectfully.
