MURFREESBORO, NC- The VSU softball team, under the leadership of head coach
Jameshia Smith, are set for their 2023 opening weekend. The Trojans will venture to Murfreesboro, NC on Saturday, February 4 to face the Chowan Hawks for a doubleheader matchup beginning at 12pm.
The future looks bright for the Trojans that ended their 2022 season, 13-7, and will be returning most of last years squad. Sophomore returner, CIAA Preseason Pick and NCAA Statistical Champion Honors
Alaijah Pratt, is expected to lead the Trojans in hitting (0.466 BA) and pitching (3.07 ERA). Junior
Alani Horton is expected to keep adding onto the hitting stats (0.287 BA) along with Senior
Macy Beville (0.318 BA) for the Trojans as well. The Trojans recently added Freshmen
Skye Corum and Junior
Kara Green to the pitching roster and are looking to see great expectations from them.
The Virginia State Trojans are prepared for season with a set roster as they gear up to face the Chowan Hawks. Chowan recently announced new Head Coach Junior Bailey who coached for Barton University. The Hawks ended their 2021-2022 season 4-20, but will enter the 2022-2023 spring with returners Haleigh Reid, Kaitlyn Brunelli, Paige Wilhelm, Morgan Meredith, and Hannah Eden.
