Trojans Sweep Vikings Behind Explosive Offense

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Virginia State softball delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Elizabeth City State University in a doubleheader highlighted by an offensive outburst and strong pitching.

In game one, the Trojans erupted for 17 runs on 22 hits to secure a 17-6 victory. After a back-and-forth start, Virginia State broke the game open with a five-run third inning and never looked back.

Shmya Hankins led the offensive surge with a perfect 5-for-5 performance at the plate, driving in seven runs and blasting a home run. Siann Meadows added four hits and scored four times, while Lauren Parham collected three hits and crossed the plate four times. Reina Washington and Carma Williams each contributed multiple RBIs as the Trojans consistently applied pressure throughout the lineup.

In the circle, Madison Jones earned the win, tossing five innings while allowing six runs. Carma Williams came in for relief and shut the door over the final two innings to secure the victory.

Virginia State carried that momentum into game two, cruising to a 9-1 win to complete the sweep. The Trojans once again showcased a balanced attack, tallying 11 hits and capitalizing on key scoring opportunities.

Ava Brown led the way both at the plate and in the circle. She finished with two hits and two RBIs while also tossing a complete game, allowing just one run on eight hits and striking out three. Lauren Parham recorded two doubles and an RBI, while Micaiah Cooper and Reina Washington each drove in runs to pace the offense.

The Trojans broke the game open with a three-run fourth inning and added four more in the fifth to put the contest out of reach.
