GAME 1 | Lincoln (PA) 5, Virginia State 4

ETTRICK, Va. --The Virginia State Trojans fell 5-4 in an eight-inning matchup to the Lincoln (PA) Lions Saturday.

Carma Williams (1-3) got the ball to start for Virginia State (4-16, 3-6) and took the loss. Ava Brown was a bright spot for the Trojans, starting the ballgame and throwing 5.1 innings, giving up two runs, all earned, on five hits, with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Offensively, the Trojans were paced by Emma Fleming, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a triple and two RBIs. Shmya Hankins furnished a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Nyema Charity also helped out for Virginia State, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Virginia State pushed across two runs in the frame, the big blow coming on an RBI double from Hankins.

ETTRICK, VA --The Virginia State Trojans struggled on Saturday, falling to the Lincoln (PA) Lions 12-3 despite the efforts of Micaiah Cooper, who went 1 for 1 with an RBI.

Madison Jones (2-5) started and took the loss in the circle for Virginia State (4-17, 3-7).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Lauren Parham came across to score the lone run of the inning for Virginia State and get them on the board.

The Lions expanded their lead to 11-1 before the Trojans offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. Cooper came across to score the lone run of the inning for Virginia State, which tightened the Lions lead to 11-2.

Lincoln (PA) built their lead to 12-2 before the Virginia State offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 12-3 in the fifth. The Trojans scored once on an RBI single off the bat of . The Trojans were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
