Madison Jones (3-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Virginia State (5-18, 4-8). The right-hander went five innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Virginia State plated two runs off of Bluefield State pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Nanye' Cain-Dixon.
After the Big Blues rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Trojans came back to retake the lead in the fourth inning. which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Trojans.
Virginia State held Bluefield State without a run before expanding their lead to 11-2 the following inning.
