Winston-Salem, N.C. (Dec. 2, 2023)- Both the women's and men's indoor track team for Virginia State University opened their indoor season at the WSSU JDL Fast Track.
The women standouts include Emoni Coleman as she broke the School Record in the 600m Dash with a 1:43.99 mark. She finished 9th overall.
Markeria King was the top performer in the 60m dash with a time of 7.91. Jayla Greene ran a 7.98 and Elisha Barnes ran an 8.05. She also ran 25.99 in the 200m dash and finished 8th overall.
Manuela Deigh ran a personal best in the 600m dash with a time of 1:46.54, and Emetem Bezezuh ran a 1:48 and Sania Peterson ran a 1:50. Manuelene Deigh ran a season best in the 3k of 11:18.
In the 60m hurdles Jaelynn Wynder-Hill ran a seasons best 9.36 and Jada Starks ran a 9.40.
Janiya Harmon finished 16th overall in the Shot Put with a 11.34m. The women's team of Greene, Barnes, Coleman, and Bezezuh ran the 4x 400m Relay finished 8th overall with 4:18.48.
The teams next meet will be on January 7 as they go to the VCU Rams Invitational.
