Trojans gear up for first conference game against FSU

Ettrick, Va. (Nov. 27, 2023)- Coming off a 73-71 win over Chowan University, the Virginia State University men's basketball team welcomes Fayetteville State to the Multipurpose center for the first conference game of the new season.  

On the season VSU is averaging 66.8 points per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the field. On the defensive end the team is averaging 6.6 steals per game and 1.2 blocks per game. Kendall Bynum and Tremere Brown are both averaging double figures with 11.6 and 10.8 points per game. 

The Broncos put up 61.6 points per game while shooting just over 40 percent from the field. FSU blocks two shots per game while dishing out six assists per game. Four different players average more than 10 points with Tairell Fletcher leading the team with 13.7 points per game. 

Virginia State sits at 2-3 overall and Fayetteville State, who lost a non-conference game against Virginia Union last game out, sits at 2-5 on the season. The only common opponent for the teams is UNC Pembroke, which both teams have a loss to.
