FULL RESULTS
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (January 21, 2023)- The VSU women's indoor track and field team, under the leadership of VSU's 1
st year head coach
Frank Hyland, are continuing to leave their mark on the season. The team earned 16 top 10 finished at the Marlins Invitational on January 20-21, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University.
Setting the tone for the Trojans was
Desairey Gray the 400M with a 1
st place time of 59.46. The 400M relay also had a 7th place finish by
Glenda Jenkins with a time of 1:03.55
Running in with a 2
nd place finish in the women's 200M was
Elisha Barnes with a time of 25.73.
Jordan Burzynski also collected a 9th place finish in the 200M, running in at 26.83.
Alandina Hyppolite edged her way to 4
th place 800M relay finish, with a time of 2:28.26.
Emoni Coleman and
Manuela Deigh both finished in the top 10 in the mile run with a time of 5:38.72 (7
th place) and 5:43.29 (9
th place) respectively.
Manuelene Deigh can in with a 3000M, 3
rd place time of 11:14.95.
Leaping her way to a 4
th place finish (9.82) in the 60M hurdles was
Jaelynn Wynder-Hill.
Finding back-to-back action in the 4x400 relay with a 3
rd and 4
th place finish was
Elisha Barnes,
Desairey Gray,
Jayla Greene and
Emoni Coleman with a time of 4:07.87 and
Glenda Jenkins,
Miracle Price,
Alandina Hyppolite and
Cyncere Fountains with a time of 4:16.82.
On the field,
Aanya Howard had a 2
nd place leap of 1.55m in the women's high jump, while
Desairey Gray securing a 3
rd place long jump range of 5.30m.
Aanya Howard found more top finishing action at the triple jump pit with a 4
th place leap of 10.49m.
Earning a 2
nd and 5
th place throw respectively were
Janiya Harmon (11.38m) and
Brooklyn Richardson (10.27m).
The Trojans will return to action on January 29 at the Vince Brown Invitational in Newport News, VA.
