ETTRICK, VA  – Virginia State University's Volleyball team went 3-1 in the UC Invitational which allowed them to improve their overall record to 5-7. The squad played a total of 10 sets the first day and won both 3-2 over Belmont Abbey and Bloomsburg before splitting the second day sweeping Salem 3-0 and losing to the hosts Univ. of Charleston 1-3. 
 
Helena Eubanks contributed 39 kills, 15 digs and accounted for 42 points over the weekend in the UC Invitational. The sophomore outside hitter earned a team season-high 13 kills along with a personal season-high six digs which led to 15 total points against Belmont Abbey. The Kansas City, MO native now leads the team with 92 kills (1.96 kills per set) and is second on the team in total points with 99 (2.11 points per set).

Amaya Cooper accounted for 34 kills, 12 blocks and added for 45.5 points over the weekend in the UC Invitational. The freshman outside hitter ended with a team season-high .474 hitting percentage which led to a career-high 11 kills against Salem. She also set a team season-high with 17 total points against Belmont Abbey. The Atlanta, GA native leads the team in total points with 110.5 (2.51 points per set) and blocks after tallying 32 for the season (0.73 blocks per set).

Virginia State is set to open conference play this Thursday, September 15 as they prepare to host Bowie State in the VSU Multipurpose center at 6:00 p.m.
