Trojans fall in 4-set match to Bowie State

BOWIE, MD --The Virginia State volleyball team lost Monday as the Bowie State Bulldogs posted a 3-1 (21-25, 21-25, 25-22, 22-25) win on the road at the AC Jordan Arena.

The loss dropped Virginia State's record to 13-10 overall and 12-3 in CIAA action.

Kyra Marciniak finished with 13 kills on the day to lead the Trojans offense. got 25 digs from Kellee Craig to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Trojans fell behind early, losing the first set 25-21. Bowie State grabbed the advantage for good at 22-21 in a set that was knotted up 10 times before the Bulldogs took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | Virginia State dropped the second set 25-21, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Trojans came up short in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied 14 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.

SET 3 | Virginia State fought back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Trojans the set the third set 25-22.
