ETTRICK, VA - As we count down to the start of the 2022 VSU Volleyball season, the schedule consists of a 28-game slate that will feature nine home games and 19 away games.
Virginia State will kick off the season on the road in Elkins, West Virginia participating in the Davis & Elkins Season Opening Invitational. The squad will open their 2022 campaign with a date with Seton Hill (Pa.) (Aug 26), Davis and Elkins (Aug 26), Lock Haven (Aug 27) and Glenville State (Aug 27).
The Trojans will go on to host the VSU Home Opener the ensuing weekend as the squad will open their home schedule against Elizabeth City State in a non-conference matchup (Sept 2), before facing West Virginia State later that day (Sept 2), Shippensburg will be the first matchup of day two (Sept 3) prior to concluding the VSU Home Opener against Chowan (Sept 4).
The VSU Volleyball team will head back to West Virginia to participate in the University of Charleston Invitational in Charleston, West Virginia. They will open against Belmont Abbey (Sept 9) before concluding their first day taking on Bloomsburg (Sept 9). The squad will start day two against Salem (Sept 10) and will end with a matchup against the University of Charleston (Sept 10).
The squad will return home to open conference play against Bowie State (Sept 15). Lincoln (Pa.) will be the next stop for the team (Sept 19).
The Trojans will then go on to compete in the CIAA Roundup (Sept 24-25) on the campus of Bowie State.
They will go on to stay on the road to Raleigh, NC to take on Shaw (Sept 29) then to Elizabeth City, NC to take on Elizabeth City State (Oct 3).
The Trojans will participate in their second and final CIAA Roundup of the season (Oct 8-9) in Raleigh, NC at Shaw and St. Augustine's.
The team will return home to host Lincoln (Pa.) (Oct13) before heading up the road to Richmond, VA to take on Virginia Union (Oct 17). The Trojans will then face Shaw at home before heading to Lynchburg, VA to participate in the Tri-Match against the University of Lynchburg (Oct 22) and Virginia University of Lynchburg (Oct 22).
The Trojans will close out the regular season with two of three games being played in the VSU Multipurpose center. For the third time of the season, the Trojans will have a date with Elizabeth City State at home (Oct 24). Senior Day will be against in-state rivals, Virginia Union (Oct 27). The last regular season game of the 2022 season will be at Bowie State
(Oct 31).
