ETTRICK, VA – The VSU softball team is back for their third consecutive doubleheader at home as they prepare to face Washington Adventist University Shock. The doubleheader will be the third in just a four-day span for VSU. The Trojans will look to redeem themselves after taking a couple hard losses to Frostburg State last time out, 8-1 and 12-2.
The sophomore
Macy Beville leads the team and the conference at the plate as she maintains an astounding .545 batting average. She also leads the conference with a .583 on-base percentage while a .679 slugging percentage ranks here second in the conference. Beville ties for first on the team in runs (4) and hits (6).
Hailey Darrington leads the team in stolen bases going 5-of-5 on the bath paths.
Alani Horton is second on the team in batting average with a .333. The veteran
Samantha Cunningham leads the team with five RBI while a .313 batting average ranks her third on the team.
Julia Jones is the lone Trojan to have a homerun in the season along with four RBI. As a team, the squad bats a .276 from the plate as three players maintain batting averages over a .300. The pitching rotation averages just 4.67 earned runs per contest.
Alaijah Pratt has been lights out this season as a 2.40 is ranks her first in the conference while she also leads in opponents' batting average against her, which is a .267. Pratt also leads the conference in runs allowed with six.
Leah Harrison leads the conference in hits allowed with 10 while Pratt ranks second with 12.
Desmyn Owens leads the team in innings pitched with 18, at-bats with 86 and ranks third in the conference in strikeouts with 12.
Hailey Darrington leads the outfield with 11 putouts while
Samantha Cunningham leads with 18 assisted outs on the season. The Trojans will look to clean up their play defensively as they have 14 so far this season.

About Washington Adventist
The Washington Adventist Shock are 3-7 on the season and look to carry their recent momentum into their doubleheader against the Trojans. After dropping their first five games of the season, the Shock have three of their last five matchups as two of them ended in a 10-run mercy rule. WAU is 1-5 against CIAA teams this season but look to extend their win-streak to four games after the doubleheader against Virginia State.
