NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The Virginia State women's outdoor track and field team traveled to Richmond, VA to open their season in the Fred Hardy Invitational on the campus of University of Richmond.

100 Meters
Amaya Jordan placed second of 15 posting a 12.53 in her first collegiate outdoor race. Shakell Williams came in fifth finishing in 12.96. In seventh place, came Ty'Nasia Walker who ran a 13.26.

200 Meters
Amaya Jordan placed ninth posting a 25.91 while Shakell Williams finished in 18^th with a 26.88.  
 
400 Meters
Glenda Jenkins came in seventh of 23 runners after finishing in a personal best 59.28. Jordan Burzynski also posted a personal best 1:01.07, which placed her 16^th.
 
800 Meters
Kyera Frank finished in 2:28.86, which placed her 26^th.  Shashauana Valentine posted a 2:29.68 in her first outdoor event of her collegiate career, as she placed 29^th. Manuela Deigh pushed her limits as well as she was able give herself a new personal best with a 2:32.14 finish which, placed her 31^st. A place behind her, came Sydni Patterson who also posted a new personal best 2:33.43 which, landed her in 32^nd place. Manuelene Deigh added her personal best of 2:35.78 which, placed her 35^th while Ruby Williams placed 36^th in 2:39.39 which, was also a personal best for her.

1500
Kyera Frank finished first among the Trojans, which, allowed her a new personal best and a 43rd place, finish behind a 5:07.11. Alandina Hyppolite finished a place behind Frank in 44^th place with a 5:08.61. In 52^nd place, came Jada Harris finishing in 5:19.58 while Shashauna Valentine posted a 5:22.24 and finished in 53^rd. Sydni Patterson posted a personal best 5:27.65 which, placed her 55^th. Manuela Deigh finished with a personal record, 5:34.47, which placed her 56^th while Ruby Williams was not too far behind with a 5:36.44 finish, which gave her a new personal best and 57^th place. Manuelene Deigh posted a personal best 5:42.27, which gave her a 58^th place finish while, Scheleck Laraque rounded out the race in 59^th place in 6:44.99.

3000
Kyera Frank was able to finish in fourth posting an 11:53.64. Manuelene Deigh came in 10^th posting a 12:49.52 while Ruby Williams came right behind her in 11^th with a 13:00.55.

4x400
The 4x400 team made up of Glenda Jenkins, Jordan Burzynski, Alandina Hyppolite and Jada Harris placed fifth of 13 teams finishing in 4:03.03.
 
Long Jump
Ty'Nasia Walker covered 4.99 meters, which placed her 17^th.
 
Shot Put
Savanna Drummer placed seventh in her first collegiate outdoor meet as her best throw covered 10.51 meters. Brooklyn Richardson's best throw was only a little shorter than her teammate at 10.02 meters, which placed her ninth in her first collegiate outdoor met.

Discus  
Brooklyn Richardson placed ninth with her best toss covering 31.55 meters. Savanna Drummer placed 11^th as her best throw covered 27.81 meters.
