ETTRICK, VA - As we count down for the start of the 2021 VSU Volleyball season, the schedule consists of a 25-game slate that will feature 14 home games and 11 away games.
Virginia State will kick off the season hosting the VSU Opening Weekend Invitational in which the team will take on Georgian Court University (Sept 3), Salem University (Sept 3) and the University of Mount Olive (Sept 4).
The Trojans will host another set of teams (Felician University and Alderson Broaddus University) at the VSU Tri-Match on Sept. 11.
VSU will make their first road trip of the 2021 season to Newport News,VA to see Christopher Newport University (Sept 15). Three days later, the Trojans will travel to Wilmington, DE for the first ever Invitational meeting between VSU, Wilmington University and Adelphi University. Soon after, a trip to Bowie, MD on Sept. 23 to take on Bowie State University will wrap up the Trojans multi-game road matchups.
VSU will be back in the Multipurpose Center for a date with Lincoln University (Pa.) (Sept 27). The first of two CIAA Round-Ups will be held on October 2-3 in Winston-Salem, NC and will include St Augustine's, Fayetteville State and Livingstone College.
The beginning of the five game home stand will start with the former southern division regular season champions and newly added northern division team, Shaw University (Oct 7). Next up, is Elizabeth City State University on Oct 11 before the Trojans host a non-conference matchup against Regent University on Oct. 13. This will also be the first ever meeting between the two squads.
The Trojans will go on to host the second CIAA Round-Up at the VSU Multipurpose Center on Oct 16-17. VSU will take on Johnson C. Smith University, Claflin University and Winston-Salem State University. VSU will head up to Lincoln, PA on Oct. 21 for the second match-up of the year against Lincoln University (Pa.). The I-95 rivals, VSU and VUU, will match up on Oct. 25 on Trojans territory. Three days later, VSU will travel down to Raleigh,NC to face Shaw University on Oct 28.
To start to month of November, the Trojans will stay in North Carolina to take on Elizabeth City State for the second time in the 2021 season (Nov 1). The last road trip of the year will be down I-95 to take on Virginia Union (Nov 4). Senior night will be held on November 8 against Bowie State to wrap up the regular season.
The Trojans look to stay on their One Team, One Goal motto for the 2021 CIAA Championships on Nov. 16, 20-21.
