Box Score 2 ETTRICK, VA (April 15, 2018) - An early morning doubleheader matchup against the Vikings of Elizabeth City State did not stop the VSU Trojans softball team from securing two five inning victories today.

GAME 1
Scoring in every inning of game 1, the Trojans dominated the field with a 15-3 victory.
VSU made the first runs of the contest at the bottom of the first inning, taking a 3-0 lead. The Vikings answered back at the top of the second inning with 2 runs, but VSU countered back with 2 runs of their own for a 5-3 lead.
ECSU secured their final run of the game with a single at the top of the third inning. An infield home run by Ayannah Bowman not only gave her 3 RBI's, but kept the Trojans momentum up, moving them to a 9-3 lead. The Trojans rounded the bases with 6 runs in the fourth inning to hold firm to their 15-3 victory after 5 innings.
Ayannah Bowman, Domonique Mulero, and
Laricesa Miles led VSU with 3 runs each.
Darnae Jones ran in with 2 runs, while
Vanessa Ruby,
Tatyana Jordan,
India Holmes and
Amirah Chaney each gave the Trojans a single run.
GAME 2
Stolen bases and wild pitches helped lift the Trojans to their 14-3 victory over the Vikings in game 2. Despite ECSU collecting a single run at the top of the opening inning, VSU answered back with 3 runs at the bottom of the first.
The Vikings scoreless second inning made way for the Trojans 11 runs at the bottom of the second inning, giving VSU a 14- 1 lead. The Vikings managed to tally 2 runs at the top of the third, but VSU captured the 14-3 win after five innings.

UP NEXT
The Trojans will return to action on Saturday, April 21 to face the Panthers of Virginia Union University. The first pitch is set for 12pm at the VSU Softball Field. Â
