Box Score ALBERTA, VA (April 12. 2018)- The Virginia State University softball team extended their winning streak after taking down the Panthers of Southside Virginia Community College on the road.  The 12-1 victory in favor of the Trojans, gave VSU their 12
th consecutive win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans took control of the game early at the top of first inning with four runs. Despite allowing the Panthers a chance to gain a single run at the bottom of the first inning, VSU's defense dominated the field for the remainder of the contest.
 
A bunt in the second inning moved the Trojans ahead to a 5-1 lead, followed by an additional four runs at the top of the third inning to extend VSU's lead. The three runs VSU added to the board at the top of the fourth inning gave them the edge to close the contest out with a 12-1 fifth inning victory.
 
Tatyana Jordan led the way for the Trojans with 3 runs while 
Vanessa Ruby, 
India Holmes and 
Amirah Chaney each chipped in 2 runs. Assisting VSU with single runs to take the win were Ayannah Bowman, 
Dominique Mulero and 
Darnae Jones.
 
UP NEXT
The Trojans will return to action on April 14 for a home contest against the Hawks of Chowan University. The first pitch is set for 12pm.
