Box Score ETTRICK, VA (March 28, 2018)- The Virginia State University (VSU) Trojan softball team, under the leadership of head coach
Lynne Gilbert, added to their winning streak with a 9-1 victory over the Panthers of Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Capitalizing off of open opportunities,
Vanessa Ruby and
Samantha Cunningham each stole home, putting the Trojans on the board in the first and second inning respectively.

Despite the Panthers running the bases to gain a single run in the third inning, VSU made their presence known at the bottom of the fourth inning with 6 runs. Cunningham started the domino effect of runs in the fourth inning after an error on SVCC. A double by
Dominique Mulero brought home Ayannah Bowman and
Darnae Jones, followed by Mulero stealing third and home plate for the 4
th run of the inning. Ruby chipped in another run, while
Tatyana Jordan stole her way around the field, advancing her home. At the bottom of 4, VSU had a strong 8-1 lead.

Rounding out the contest, Bowman hit a double to left field, bringing home
Laricesa Miles to give the Trojans a 9-1, 5 inning victory.

UP NEXT
The Trojans will travel to Greeneville, NC to take on Pitt Community College on April 3. The doubleheader matchup sit set for 3pm.
