TROJANS FINAL GAME OF 2017 SHAW UNIVERSITY SOFTBALL CHALLENGE RESULTS IN 0-20 LOSS TO QUEENS UNIVERSITY OF CHARLOTTE

Box Score APEX, NC – To end the 2017 Shaw University Softball Challenge, the Trojans fell 0-20 to Queens University of Charlotte on Sunday. Virginia State (2-10) had no hits recorded in the loss, while the Royals (14-9) had 15. The Trojans yielded a 0-5 decision in the 2017 Shaw University softball challenge.

Hot hitting by the Royals helped them secure an early lead victory. In the third inning they dominated by adding 10 runs to the scoresheet. The Royals capitalized on errors made by the Trojans with two scoring off an error from the center fielder. Scott crossed home plate off a walk while Sydney Ditto scored on an error at shortstop. Sanford and Lathan added back-to-back runs with Sanford crossing home thanks to a single from Strickler and Lathan racing to score on a wild pitch. Ending the third inning the Royals made it a 16-0 game. The Royals contributed four more runs in the fifth inning to wrap-up the game 20-0.
 
Pitching for the Trojans in the competition were Rebecca Elder, Veronica Ruby, Dominique Mulero who together contributed six strikeouts respectively for the Trojans.  

The Trojans return home to host Queens College on Saturday, March 11 in doubleheader action. The first pitch is slated for 1 P.M.
