ETTRICK, VA – The Virginia State University women's bowling team will compete in the 2017 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship located in Chesapeake, Va. All games will be hosted at the AMF Western Branch Lanes on Friday, March 24 – Sunday, March 26.
The Virginia State University women's bowling team wrapped up the 2017 regular season finale in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event III meet hosted by Johnson C. Smith University.
The Trojans went 4-0 in Northern Division play on day 1 of the event defeating Elizabeth City State (738-536), Chowan (939-652), Bowie State (760-693) and Virginia Union (771-705). Sophomore
Ariel Haith led the way with a 254 game followed by freshman
Briana Williams with a 212 game.
On day 2, VSU once again went 4-0 in Northern Division play. The Trojans averaged 829.1 per match on Saturday. VSU defeated Elizabeth City State (1013-466), Bowie State (867-829), Virginia Union (860-720) and Chowan (831-562). Senior
Rebecca Clements had a very strong showing, rolling games of 236, 201, and 180.
Heath received the Northern Division High Game award for her 254 game. VSU's
Rebecca Clements received the Northern Division High Average award for her averaging 182.60. VSU's
Briana Williams received the Northern Division Newcomer High Average for averaging 154.
VSU finished 3-1 in Sunday's Baker games, defeating Elizabeth City State (810-573), Chowan (902-713), Virginia Union (795-640), but dropped a (828-752) decision to Bowie State.
Competition will start Friday at 10:50 a.m., while on Saturday, Baker matches will begin at 9 a.m. Bracket play is scheduled to start on Sunday, Mar. 26 at 9 a.m.
