Box Score LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Virginia State University men's basketball team (21-5, 13-3 CIAA) has secured a 76-72 victory over the Lions of Lincoln University Saturday afternoon at Manuel Rivero Hall to close out its regular season. Offensively, for VSU there were four Trojans that scored in double digits respectively senior Kevin Williams (17), junior Richard Granberry(14), senior Elijah Moore (14), and sophomore Walter Williams (13).
 
Defensively, for VSU Richard Granberry led the Trojans with eight rebounds. Three other Trojans contributed to VSU's defense with rebounds senior Elijah Moore(7), sophomore Walter Williams(5), and senior Kevin Williams(4).
 
VSU ended the competition shooting 55.4 percent (31-56) from the field, 57.1 percent (8-14) from behind the arc, and 42.9 percent (6-14) at the line, while LU shot 43.3 percent (26-60) from the field, 38.1 percent (8-21) behind the arc, and 50 percent (12-24) at the line. The VSU Trojans secured the largest lead of the competition in the second half at the 5:26 mark leading by 15 points which sealed the deal. 
 
VSU completed the regular season with a (21-5, 13-3 CIAA) record to secure the No. 2 seed in the North heading into the 2017 CIAA Basketball Tournament on February 21-25 in Charlotte. NC.

The VSU men's basketball team will open conference tournament play on Thursday against Winston-Salem State University at the Spectrum Center with tip-off scheduled for 9 p.m.
