VSU ended the competition shooting 55.4 percent (31-56) from the field, 57.1 percent (8-14) from behind the arc, and 42.9 percent (6-14) at the line, while LU shot 43.3 percent (26-60) from the field, 38.1 percent (8-21) behind the arc, and 50 percent (12-24) at the line. The VSU Trojans secured the largest lead of the competition in the second half at the 5:26 mark leading by 15 points which sealed the deal.Â

VSU completed the regular season with a (21-5, 13-3 CIAA) record to secure the No. 2 seed in the North heading into the 2017 CIAA Basketball Tournament on February 21-25 in Charlotte. NC.
The VSU men's basketball team will open conference tournament play on Thursday against Winston-Salem State University at the Spectrum Center with tip-off scheduled for 9 p.m.Â
