INDIANA, Pa. – The Virginia State University men's basketball team closed out the IRMC / Hilton Garden Inn Classic with a 69-64 victory over host Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday evening at the Kovalchick Complex. Senior guard Trey Brown (Hampton, Va.) scored a game-high 20 points for the Trojans.

It was a game-high for Brown, who led the Trojans with 20 points and seven rebounds. Followed by senior forward Richard Granberry (Chester, Pa.) who posted 15 points.
  
IUP led 54-50 with just under eight minutes to go in the game before Virginia State (2-0) rattled off nine straight points to take a five-point lead. Glover made it a one point game with 3:31 to play after a steal and fastbreak layup with a free throw on the back end. It remained a one point deficit with under a minute to play in the game.
 
The game became a free throw shooting contest down the stretch, with Virginia State making 4-of-4 to ice the game in the final moments.
 
Indiana University of Pennsylvania finished the contest shooting 35.6 percent from the field (21-of-59) which included 5-of-22 behind the arc. IUP did shoot well at the charity stripe, hitting 11-of-13 (85 percent). 

Virginia State ended the contest shooting 44.1 percent from the field (26-of-59), knocked down 8-of-21 three pointers (38.1 percent) and both teams were tied in rebounds with 37.

The Trojans will return to the court next weekend traveling to participant in the Newberry Tournament in Newberry, S.C. VSU is scheduled to face Lee-McRae College on Friday, November 17 with tip-off slated for 5 p.m.
