Box Score 2 Raleigh, NC- The Virginia State University softball team took 2 losses on day 2 of the Shaw Challenge on March 5. In game 1 the Trojans fell to Millersville, 13-4, and dropped to Concord in game 2, 9-7.
In game 1, allowed Millersville to secure 13 runs.
Sophomore
India Holmes (Ruther Glen, VA) led the Trojans with 2 runs while junior
Marissa Hughes (Upper Marlboro, MD) and rookie
Dominique Mulero (Chatham, VA) each tallied a single run. The runs gave Sophomore
Tatyana Jordan (Chesterfield, VA), senior Camryn Smith (Powhatan, VA) and sophomore
Janay Joseph each earned an RBI.
Mulero would take the 13-4 loss for the Trojans.
In game 2 against Concord, sophomore
Maya Bailey (Chesterfield, VA) led the Trojans with 3 RBIs while sophomore
Rebecca Elder (Chesterfield, VA) tallied 2 RBI's. Senior
Verlisha Brandon (Halifax, VA) and junior
Briana Pierce (Halifax, VA) each collected a single RBI.
Making it a team effort were sophomore
India Holmes (Ruther Glen, VA), senior
Krysten Davis (Chesterfield, VA ), rookie
Amirah Chaney (Passaic, NJ), junior DeMone
Brickhouse (Southhampton, VA), senior
Mckenzie Love (Shippensburg, PA), Elder, and Pierce each giving the Trojans a run.
Wilkins would take the 9-7 loss for VSU.
VSU will take to the field on Sunday, March 6 to face Georgia College & State and Virginia Union in Raleigh, NC.
