Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University softball team suffered a doubleheader loss to the Bulldogs of Barton College on March 25.
The Trojans move to a 9-14 overall record after the matchup.
Game 1 moved very fast, as VSU fell short of a win, 2-0.
The Bulldogs took control in game 2 with a final score of 12-5.
Securing runs for the Trojans were sophomore
Mikela Dockery (Chicago, IL), senior
Cameryn Smith (Powhatan, VA), sophomore
India Holmes (Ruth Glen, VA), junior DeMone Brickhouse (Southampton, VA), and senior Mckenize Love (Shippensburg, PA).
The Trojans fought to keep the Bulldogs down but where overpowered in the 2
nd inning after a homerun by Barton. In the 4
th inning the Trojans clinched 2 runs to have a 6-3 score at the bottom of the 4
th. Barton answered back with 4 runs in the 5
th inning, but the Trojans chipped in 2 additional runs for a final score of 12-5.
VSU will be back in action on Saturday, March 26, as they take on their I-95 rivals, Virginia Union University. The doubleheader matchup is set to begin at 12pm in Richmond, VA.
