The Trojans controlled the opening tip, giving
Kevin Williams the chance to knock down a three-pointer moments later to start the ball game. Much like the opening tip, the Trojans would control the ball game for the duration of the night.
At the start of the second half, junior forward
Melvin Gregory (Weems, VA) opened up the half knocking down a shot from behind the arc.
VSU led by as many as 23 points with under five minutes remaining in the contest. The Trojans dominated in the paint and 24 points came from second chance opportunities.
As the Trojans make their way back to CIAA play for the remainder of the regular season, it's clear that they have their eye on the prize of not only holding on to the title of Northern Division Champions, but a championship. "The ring and my team are my motivation," stated
Kevin Williams.
The Trojans will be back in action on Monday, February 8 at 7:30 PM as they host the Elizabeth City State University Vikings.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks.
