ETTRICK, Va. - The Virginia State University men's basketball team will host the Newport News Apprentice School Builders on Saturday, February 6 in Daniel Gymnasium at 4pm. Saturday will also be highlighted as the Alumni Winter Festival Orange out game.
VSU leads the CIAA Northern Division with a 15-4 overall record, 10-1 in the CIAA.
Junior forward
Elijah Moore (Yorktown, VA) leads the Trojans offensively and defensively averaging 14.8 points per game and 5.5 rebounds.
The Apprentice School is apart of the Division III United States Collegiate Athletic Association. The Builders are offensively and defensively led by Jay Melendez averaging 17.7 points per game and 8.4 rebounds.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home basketball games this season.
