Box Score 3 RALEIGH, NC- The VSU Trojan softball team finished the first day of the CIAA Softball Roundup with a 1-2 record on March 21.
In game 1, the Trojans kept the Lady Bears of Shaw University down with a final score of 2-0. Senior
Logan Tollison secured a homerun at the top of the 3
rd inning; helping her collect 2 RBI's to lead the game. Junior
Mckenzie Love is credited for the win after pitching 7 innings.
VSU went up against the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University for game 2. Sophomore
Briana Pierce put the Trojans on the board with a run in the 4
th inning. Sophomore
Marissa Hughes took a loss after pitching 4 innings. The game ended at the top of the 5
th inning with a score of 9-1.
The Trojans faced the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University for game 3. After two outs in the 2
nd inning, senior
Sudie Baynham secured a homerun putting the Trojans on the board. Rookie
Tatyana Jordan ran home in the 4
th inning while senior
Sade Holmes scored in the 5
th inning for the Trojans final game points. At the conclusion of the 7
th inning the final score was 8-3. Junior
Lindsey Wilkins is credited for the loss after pitching 5 innings.
VSU will be back in action on March 22 for day 2 of the CIAA Softball Roundup in Raleigh, NC. The team will take on Johnson C. Smith University, St. Augustine's University and Livingstone College.
