Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Trojans men's basketball team remain untouchable with their eighth consecutive victory after defeating the St. Augustine's Falcons, 71-53, on February 4.
VSU shot 47.1 percent (24-51) in field goals, 37.5 percent (6-16) from behind the arc and 65.4 (17-26) percent from the free throw line.
Securing his sixth double-double of the season is senior
Tyrece Little with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Senior
Lamar Kearse and sophomore
Elijah Moore both collected 12 points for the Trojans. The Falcons leading scorer was Raheem Jolliffe with 15 points.
The Trojans controlled the court early in the first half, keeping the Falcons down, 14-1, with 13:52 on the clock. Kearse collected his 12 points in the half, giving VSU an edge. The halftime score, with the Trojans leading, was 40-31.
The second half mimicked the first as VSU continued to overpower SAU. A layup by senior
Alphonso Leary gave the Trojans a 21 point lead over the Falcons with 3:16 left in regulation. As the clock ran down with seconds left, VSU maintained possession of the ball to take a 71-53 win.
VSU tallied 26 points in the paint, 16 bench points and 10 points off of turnovers.
The Trojans will travel to Murfreesboro, NC on February 11 to take on Chowan University. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
