Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State Trojans rounded out the last day of the UMO Pickle Classic with a loss to the Barton College Bulldog, 94-89
The fall moves the Trojans to a 3-2 overall record.
VSU shot 41.2 percent (28-68) from the field, 38.5 percent (10-26) from behind the arc and 74.2 percent (23-31) from the free throw line.
Junior
Kevin Williams (Franklinton, NC) led VSU with 13 points while rookie
Cyonte Melvin (Hampton, VA) followed through with 12 points. Senior
Javon Moore (Fairfax, VA) collected 11 points while sophomore
Tyler Peterson (Virginia Beach, VA) rounded out the double digit scoring for the Trojans with 10 points. Moore led VSU with a team high of 9 rebounds.
The Trojans had a slow run against the Bulldogs as they trailed the first half and went into half time with a score of 40-25. VSU worked to close the scoring gap and got within 5 points of Barton at the end of the game. The final score was 94-89.
VSU will return to Daniel Gymnasium to take on the Washington Adventist Shocks on Wednesday, November 25 at 4 p.m.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
