Day Two of the CIAA Softball Round-Up hosted by Virginia State University went off without a hitch on Monday, March 10.

The Trojans took on the Lady Falcons of St. Augustine's University at 1:00 PM giving VSU its third win of the season.

In the bottom of the second inning, a double from Logan Tollison (Chester, VA) to left field gave her an RBI scored by Endya Bailey (Portland, OR).

Jamilia Smith (Halifax, VA) would get a base hit to advance her to second base followed by two wild pitches to advance her to third and then score on the pitch all in the third inning.

The fifth inning looked bright for the Trojans as they collected five runs to lead over the Lady Falcons, 7-6.

However, St. Augustine's gained back momentum at the top of the sixth inning, stealing several bases allowing them to get a run and tie the score at 7-7.

The Lady Falcons caused the Trojans to walk three times at bat, as the bases became loaded. But the Trojans failed to make a run as SAU would capture three outs.

The top of the seventh would mimic the bottom of the sixth as the Trojans turned the tables on the Lady Falcons gaining three easy outs.

Bailey hit a double to centerfield, followed by Sade Holmes' (Caroline County, VA) strikeout. Tollison would be walked and Janay Joseph (Eastern Shore, VA) strikes out swinging leaving Jessica Mattia (Accokeek, MD) with a full count of 3-2. Mattia hits a single to left field allowing Bailey to score and win the game.

This win give the Trojans their third win of the season as they are now 3-5 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

The Trojans will play host to Seton Hill in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 12 at 2:00 pm.
