Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.- The Virginia State University men's basketball team currently have a 2-2 overall record after defeating Barton College in an 80-78 overtime matchup at the 2014 Mount Olive Pickle Classic on November 22.
There was no room for error as the scores remained close for the entire game. The Trojans were only down by two at halftime with a score of 34-32.
VSU was down by four with 1:59 left in the ball game. Two good free throws from
Elijah Moore and a layup from
Tyrece Little tied the score and sent the teams into overtime.
Jamison Jeffers came through for the Trojans adding four needed points to the books. The scores were tied 78-78 as the clock ran down.
Troy Locke made the game winning layup at the buzzer for the Trojans.
Tyrece Little led VSU with 24 points while
Elijah Moore secured 15.
Alphonso Leary and
Tyler Peterson contributed 14 points each.
Little and Peterson were selected to the All-Tournament Team at the end of the two day classic.
VSU will be back in action on November 25 in Washington D.C. as they take University of District of Columbia. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
