Bynum’s Career-High Night Leads Trojans to 72-54 Victory Over Fayetteville State

Mike Bynum scored a career-high 24 points as the Trojans cruised to a 72-54 win over the Fayetteville State University Broncos on Saturday, January 5th in Petersburg, VA. VSU's defense held the Broncos to 33% shooting and 18 turnovers.

The Trojans displayed solid offense in the first half behind 14 points from their big man Kenny Mitchell. VSU shot 57% from the field and held Fayetteville State to 33%. VSU muscled their way in the paint with 19 points to four points by FSU. After a technical foul on the Broncos Mike Bynum went to the free-throw line and nailed four free-throws. The Trojans ended the first half on an 8-0 run leading the Broncos 35-27.

The second half belonged to Trojans senior guard, Mike Bynum. Mike Bynum made six of nine shots from the field in the second half exploding for 15 points. The Trojans lead jumped to 26 points in the second half behind great defense and Mike Bynum's hot shooting. The Trojans picked up their first CIAA conference win of the season defeating the Broncos 72-54.

Two Trojans hit double-digit scoring, Mike Bynum had 24 points and Kenny Mitchell had 18 points. Christopher Grier grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds while Shawn Porter added seven rebounds. VSU's Devonte Williams found his teammates with a game-high nine assists and three steals in a great night for the Trojans.

Improving to 6-5 overall and their first CIAA conference win of the season (1-1), the Trojans will host Shaw University in their next game at home on Monday, January 7th at 7:30 p.m.
