Box Score Kenny Mitchell recorded his first double-double of the season with 19 points and a season-high 11 rebounds, but the Trojans fell on the road to Johnson C. Smith University 67-54 on Monday, January 14^th in Charlotte, NC.

Kenny Mitchell scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the first half pacing the Trojans offensive attack. He had a great game for the Trojans shooting 8 for 15 from the field and also hit a shot from three-point range, his eighth three-pointer of the season. Allen Harris carried the load in the second half with eight points and John Holleman added seven points.

The Trojans hit five shots from three-point land but failed to get to the free-throw line (5-10) as Johnson C. Smith was 24 of 33. Johnson C. Smith converted on 16 of 21 free-throws in the second half while the Trojans were 2 of 4. VSU last led JCSU (15-14) at the 12 minute mark in the first half and never reclaimed the lead falling 67-54.

VSU (7-8, 2-4) went 1-2 on their three game road trip against the CIAA southern division. The Trojans will play on Sunday, January 20^th at the Richmond Coliseum against their rival Virginia Union University at the Freedom Classic at 7:00 pm opening up CIAA divisional play.
