VSU’s Aubree Parker Nets Six Kills against District of Columbia

Box Score The Lady Trojans were swept by the University of the District of Columbia 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 27-25), in Ettrick, VA on Thursday, November 1st. VSU's Aubree Parker (Jr./ Fort Pierce, FL) had six kills with two service aces to lead the Lady Trojans.

Aubree Parker's six kills led VSU, while teammate Whitley Bradley (R-So./ Cibilo, TX) followed with five kills. The Lady Trojans had a tough time finding consistent offense, combining for 19 team errors in the first and second sets against UDC. Setter Jasmine Henderson (Jr./ St. Louis, MO), had a team-high 12 assists and Demera Thomason (Fr./ Chandler, AZ) added three assists. VSU did outscore the Firebirds in total team blocks 6-4, led by Brianna Small's (So./ Toms River, NJ) three solo blocks.

Defensively, two Lady Trojans both recorded eight digs. Whitley Bradley and Nikkisha Walker (Sr./ St. Louis, MO) led the charge as VSU had 40 digs compared to 39 digs by UDC. Aubree Parker and Jasmine Henderson both had six digs helping out on the defensive end.

VSU finally came to life in the third set with 11 team kills. Aubree Parker had four kills in that set alone along with her two service aces. The lead changed three times and was forced into sudden death after a 24-24 tie. The Firebirds rallied for the win and swept the Lady Trojans 3-0. UDC's Julia Lynch and Vanessa Garley both had eight kills each to lead their team.

The Lady Trojans (12-9) travel to Elizabeth City State University in their next match on Saturday, November 3rd in a CIAA Northern Divisional matchup with the Lady Vikings at 1:00 p.m.
