ETTRICK, Va. (May 19, 2026) – Virginia State University sophomore sprinter Leonie Bentley has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships after qualifying in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
Bentley enters the national championship meet ranked 13th in the nation in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.26 seconds, which he recorded at the Navy National Elite meet. He also posted one of the top times in the country in the 200-meter dash, clocking a 20.64-second finish at the same meet to rank ninth nationally.
Bentley will compete in the preliminary round of the 100-meter dash on Thursday, May 21 at 6:10 p.m. CST (7:10 p.m. EST). He will then run in the 200-meter dash preliminaries on Friday, May 22 at 5:30 p.m. CST (6:30 p.m. EST).
Should Bentley advance to the finals, both championship races will take place on Saturday, May 23. The 100-meter dash final is scheduled for 4:55 p.m. CST (5:55 p.m. EST), while the 200-meter dash final will begin at 6:20 p.m. CST (7:20 p.m. EST).
