Trojans perform well at Fred Hardy Invitational

Richmond, Va. (Mar. 20, 2026)- The Virginia State men's track, and field teams went to the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond on Friday. 

Jaquan Griffin won the triple jump with a best mark of 14.40 meters and Jeryll Gaines was third place with a mark of 13.84 meters.  In the shot put JaRamiah Slaughter and Charles Randolph placed seventh and eighth, and in the discus throw Slaughter gained a fourth-place finish with a throw of 43.36 meters. 

The men's 4x400 meter relay "A" team won the event with a final time of 3:18.90 and the 4x100 meter relay "A" team placed fourth with a time of 42.42 seconds. Miles Artis-Ablack placed eighth in the 200-meter run with a time of 22.09 seconds.  Jamiel Bowers placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.77 seconds.
