Ettrick, Va. (Mar. 18, 2026) — Virginia State University Head Women's Soccer Coach Anthony Andrews has announced that he is stepping down from his role leading the Trojans program. Frasier Brickhouse, III will serve as interim head coach.
Andrews was named the inaugural head coach of the VSU women's soccer program on August 26, 2022. During his three seasons at the helm, he compiled an overall record of 10-31-7 while helping establish the foundation for the program's future success.
The Trojans earned their first win in program history on September 6, 2023, defeating Sweet Briar College, 4-0.
This past season marked the most successful campaign in program history, as VSU finished with a 7-10-1 overall record. Under Andrews' leadership, the Trojans captured the first CIAA Women's Soccer Cup, defeating Lincoln University, 4-0, before securing a 2-1 overtime victory over Bluefield State in the championship match.
Following their conference success, the Trojans received an invitation to compete in the USCAA National Championships, where they continued their historic run. VSU defeated the University of Maine at Fort Kent, 5-0, in the opening round before earning a 1-0 victory over Shaw University in the national championship match.
Andrews also guided multiple student-athletes to national recognition, with four Trojans earning USCAA All-American honors. Morgan Parris was named First Team All-American, while Danica Carter, Loryn Sturgis, and Tianna Roberts each received Second Team honors.

Since we began competition in 2023, the program experienced significant growth under his leadership, culminating in a USCAA Division I National Championship in 2025.
