Winston-Salem, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2025)- The Virginia State Univeristy track team finished third in the CIAA Indoor Track Championships. Benedict Uzochukwu competed over the two days in the Heptathlon and walked away with the gold.
In the 800-meter run both Desmond Kirwa and Jalen Brownlee finished inside the top 10 in third and eighth respectfully. Then in the mile Kirwa won the event followed by Emmanuel Kipchirchir in fourth and Brownlee in fourth place. The distance runners continued their strong showing in the 5000-meter run collecting third, fifth, sixth and tenth places.
Amarion Harrell finished eighth in the 400-meter prelims with a time of 50.67 and then fourth in the 400-meter final with a time of 49.91. The Trojans shined in the field events starting in the triple jump where Jahaz Morgan finished second but collected a NCAA provision mark (35th) with a jump of 14.74 meters. In the long jump Keyonte Midgett also finished second with a mark of 7 meters. In the high jump Joseph Briscoe won the event after reaching a mark of 1.98 meters followed by Morgan in fourth at 1.88 meters. Charles Randolph placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 12.98 meters.
