Men's Indoor Track Bryce Sine

Track starts indoor season with two meets hosted by JDL

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Dec. 8, 2024)- To start the season the Virginia State Men's and Women's Track team started the season at the JDL Fast Track and the Early Bird Invitational. 

JDL Fast Track 

  • Savion Edwards finished ninth in the Men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.15 

  • Jamiel Bowers finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles prelim and fourth in the finals with times of 8.49 and 8,48 respectfully 

  • In the 400-meter run Amarion Harell finished in third place with a time of 51.0 

  • In the field event Morgan placed ninth in the long jump with a mark of 6.64 meters 

  • Cameren Anderson finished in 10th place in the shot put with a throw of 14.16 meters 

  • In the Women's 60-meter hurdles prelim Jaelynn Wynder-Hill placed in sixth place with a time of 9.32 and finished eighth in the finals with a mark of 9.20 

  • In the two women's field events Kenedy Shields placed fifth in the long jump and Janiya Harmon placed ninth in the shot put with marks of 5.38 meters and 12.26 meters respectfully.  

Early Bird Invitational 

  • To start the day in the Early Bird Invitation Rayquan Smith broke seven seconds at 6.99 which is the first time a VSU runner has done this since 2019 and moves him eighth all time in the 60-meter dash time

  • Johnson-Crawley and Edwards finished second and ninth in the 200 meter 

  • Kirwa won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.94 and Emmanuel Williams placed third in the 5000 meter run  

  • Then the team of Bell, Harrell, Birch and Morgan won the Men's 4x400 with a time of 3:30.76 

  • On the women's side Shield's won the high jump with a mark of 1.62 meters and Muturi won the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:38.10 

  • Elisha Barnes also had a top 5 finish in the 200-meter run with a time of 25.74 which was good for fourth place 

  • The team of Freeman, Barnes, Satterwhite and Mcelhaney finished second in the Women's 4x400 meter run 

Both the men's and women's team combined for a total of 45 top-10 finishes. The teams will be back inaction after the new year
