Going into the first media timeout VSU would see themselves down 17-9 with Rajia Todd, Amesha Miller and Tatiana Jones all having three points. When all was said and done the Trojans would end the opening 10 minutes down 23-15.Â
VSU never seemed to get closer than nine points as with five minutes and 15 seconds left the score was 29-20 in favor of the Broncos. Fayetteville State would end the final five minutes scoring eight of the last 14 points to build a 37-26 advantage. FSU was on fire from the field shooting a blistering 53.3 % (16-31) in the first half.Â
The Broncos started the third quarter going on a 12-5 to grow their lead to 18 points, 49-31. A three pointer at the 5:33 mark by Broncos made it a 20-point game 52-32. A three by Tiyanna James made it a 55-40 game with just 1:51 left in the third quarter. Tanyja London sank a pair of free throws to score the last two points of the quarter to have VSU go into the final quarter 61-45. Â
FSU would never look back in the fourth quarter as they would win the game 86-51. London finished with 17 points and Miller contributed 15 points. The team now drops to 23-5 and will have to hope that their resume speaks for itself as they hope to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Â
