LYNCHBURG, VA (February 4, 2023) The VSU women's indoor track and field team, under the leadership of VSU's 1
st year head coach,
Frank Hyland, found success in the track events at the Liberty Open. The meet, hosted by Liberty University, is the Trojans last meet regular season competition before the 2023 CIAA Championship.
The Trojans secured 7 top 10 finished in their respective track events at the meet.
Glenda Jenkins ran in with a 2
nd place 60m dash time of 7.74, while
Jordan Burzynski grasped a 10
th place time of 8.14.
Jenkins remained consistent, finishing 5
th in the 200M, with a time of 25.69.
Jayla Greene also left her mark on the event with a 9
th place time of 25.95.
Running in with a 400M 3
rd place time was
Desairey Gray at 58.09.
Emoni Coleman showed her distance skills, running in with a 6
th place 800m time of 2:21.93.
Leaping into the 2
nd 60M hurdle spot was
Jaelynn Wynder-Hill with a time of 9.32.
Securing the only top 10 finish in the field events for the Trojans was
Aanya Howard, with a 4
th high jump leap of 1.55m (5'1").
The Trojans will return to action on February 12-13 for the 2023 CIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. The meet will be held at the JDL track complex in Winston-Salem, NC.
