BALTIMORE, MD - As the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) prepares to kick-off the 2023 CIAA Men's Basketball Tournament, the conference announced the 2023 All-CIAA Men's Basketball Team on Monday afternoon in the CIAA Men's and Women's Tip-Off Awards.
Representing the Trojans in the CIAA Frontcourt is Senior, Chesterfield, VA native
Terrence Hunter-Whitfield.
Terrence Hunter-Whitfield finished the season ranking second in the CIAA in points per game averaging 17.8 (2
nd in CIAA) while shooting 73.0% (10
th in CIAA) from the free throw line. He also leads the team (2
nd n CIAA, T-15
th in NCAA) with 48 steals averaging 1.9 per contest. Hunter-Whitfield ranks second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game (T-17
th in CIAA). Hunter-Whitfield has been deadly efficient from the field shooting 45.6% (3rd in CIAA). He knocks down 33.6% of his shots from downtown and is second on the team with 36 three-pointers made (12
th in CIAA). He is fourth on the team with 48 assists this season (20
th in CIAA).
Hunter-Whitfield and the VSU men's basketball team will open postseason play at the CIAA Basketball Tournament on February 23 as a No. 3-seed facing the winner between Lincoln (Pa.) and Johnson C. Smith in the quarterfinals. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD.
