VSU Women’s Track and Field Collect Seven Top 10 Finishes at VCU Indoor Invitational

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (January 8, 2023)- VSU's Women's Indoor Track and Field team, under the leadership of 1st year head coach Frank Hyland, secured seven top 10 finishes after opening the 2022-23 Indoor Track and Field season at the VCU Indoor Invitational on Sunday.

Leading the team with a 5th place finish in the mile run was Emoni Coleman, with a time of 5:43.17.

Securing an 8th place finish in the 400M was rookie Desairey Gray, running in at 1:00.99. Also earning an 8th place finish was Janiya Harmon with a shot-put range of 11.67m.

Manuela and Manuelene Deigh each grasped a 9th place finish in their respective events. In the mile run, Manuela ran in with a time of 6:02.95 while Manuelene had a time of 11:40.32 in the 3000M.

Rounding out the top 10 finishes were Aanay Howard in the High Jump event with a leap of 1.47M and the quartet of Jordan Burzynski, Emoni Coleman, Elisha Barnes and Jaelynn Wynder-Hill.

The Trojans will return to action on January 13-14 at the VMI Invitational in Lexington, VA.
